What's the Problem? Chipped and worn parts on cabinets....Old white painted cabinets from the 1990's. The 'white' of the cabinets...turns yellow after a period of time...just like you notice your diswasher and parts of your stove and refrigerator turning 'yellow'ish'. That's what the UltraViolet Lighting does...both sunshine and lite-bulbs.

So...what do you do when you have chips or wear marks on your cabinets? How about getting white Gloss paint and touching it up like an old model car..? Nope...can't do it....you see white Polka-dots now....sure does make the cabinets look 'more-yellow'.

You bring in the 'rescue-crew'. We purchase the Cabinet Acrylic Lacquer from the local Professional Paint Store...AND the Lacquer Retarder...and Lacquer Thinner. Okay, Okay....ya know what 'Thinner' is, but what is the 'Retarder'? Well, the lacquer dries soooooo fast, you don't have time to 'work' it out of the spray gun. It comes out like Sandpaper rough...because it literally dries 'in the airborne state' as it's coming out of the gun. So, we carefully add Retarder, because is 'slow's down' the paint drying time........allowing the Lacquer to go on "WET"...and "lay down to a gloss" before drying.

Remember on the Website Licensing Page...we said "Painting Contractor...heck, ANYONE can sling a brush and roller"..........big difference in a Painting Contractor.....and a Painter.

Okay..on with the show..........these are not real 'Wood' doors.......these are MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard.........or 'squished cardboard' as we like to call them) As long as they are kept painted...and away from moisture...they are great........smooth...no joints.......you can route grooves or anything you want in them..........paints perfectly...........but do NOT let water get near them...........they swell up~ So, where the MDF was 'raw' (worn thru to the paint)......we had to 'seal' it with Lacquer Primer for a fast-built Millage on the raw parts.........then sand......THEN paint.

The worst part.......was we had to Custom-Tint the paint to match the other 'yellowing' doors, drawerfronts, and face-frames. So we brought our the Yellow-Umber tint...and started to methodically tint it to the 'aged' effect...until it was 'just right'

kitchen sink and Tilt-drawer...see all the wear and nicks...better to 'spray the whole thing' then to spec paint it with Artist Brushes....hey, notice that the doors have Finger Pulls 'and ' Cabinet Pulls...that's weird....

good shot of the inside wear and tear from Hands touching the paint for 15 years...

NOTICE>>>> The back side of the doors are all WHITE...no yellow tint...the original color. No UV Rays get to the back

we slowly mix the Yellow Oxide (see the Ketchup bottle to the left of the Old-Guy's hand) and keep stirring until we have the proper 'aged' tint...doesn't take much with tint....

add and stir...and test
add and stir...and test
add and stir...and test
add and stir...and test until "Wa -Laaa"

Here we use a HVLP Sprayer on a Compressor...(HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure) and is perfect for 'artist work' like cabinets and paint touchup on walls.....virtually no 'overspray'...

we lined up the doors and 'lay'ed the paint to it'. Lacquer dries so fast..even with the reducer...that you can hang the doors back on within 30 minutes.....but just be careful...not for the Meek.

here I'm reshooting the 'touching' area of a drawerfront...it was just damaged on the top and looked bad....

now Tiffany uses an Artist Brush
(notice her cute little Jeep hat from 'M.A.S.H.' She just bought a 1995 Jeep TJ...and it's already 'BaHa'd' out and ready for fun at the beach....THAT's what Hard-Work will do for ya!)
and Bobby is reinstalling the Tilt-Drawer in front of the sink
